MARK RIEDY+WEB MD

Creating a unique look can be a messy process. The in-house department for WebMD came to Scott Hull Associate’s Mark Riedy, looking for a contemporary, behind-the-scenes, illustrated guide for the “Child Symptom Finder”. Starting at birth and going to 6 yrs., this tool provides an illustrated look at different problems a little one may have in the formative years. Mark designed various illustrations of both boys and girls to help parents identify and determine possible health issues in an educational and artistic way. It’s easy to use and beautiful to view. No mess whatsoever.

Art director Brandy Bridges complimented Mark on his expediency and attention to detail. She goes on to say, “Mark’s illustrations look fantastic…we had a lot of cooks in the kitchen and we appreciated his quick adjustments. Thanks so much for helping make this tool a success.”

OF INTEREST

MARK RIEDY + BO JACKSON PIES

A few years back, Mark Riedy was commissioned to create the likeness of football star and budding entrepreneur, Bo Jackson. Bo was releasing a line of homemade frozen pies based on momma’s own recipes, and Riedy’s graphic style was chosen as one direction for the packaging art. As it turned out, the portrait made a brief appearance in the frozen food case before the product line was acquired by a major food corp. “I would run across Bo’s portrait in the occasional image search and often thought I would have liked to develop the entire brand design,” said Riedy. Recently some free time crossed paths with some inspiration, and Mark was able to complete the design as he envisioned. Who Knows? If they had used this design direction, maybe Bo and Mark would still be chillin’ in the frozen food isle.

FLAT GRAPHICS TO ANIMATED GRAPHICS

Mark Riedy’s use of vector has now been maximized through animation. Chicago agency, A. Eicoff & Company, commissioned Mark to assist in developing a 30 second commercial for Amdro Firestrike. Mark simply provided the artwork in layered files based on John Postlewait’s direction, and Radar Studios gave it life.  As they say, if it’s not moving, it’s dead.
